The Immigrant Scholarship Hustle (ISH) bridges community, empowerment, and education with, by, and for immigrant youth.
WHO: A program for immigrant youth, by immigrant youth. We strongly encourage undocumented students and students with DACA to participate. All scholarships and information discussed will include resources for all students, regardless of immigration status.
WHAT: Through a five-day series of workshops, ISH empowers students to tell their stories, learn how to use their lived experiences to expand their education and employment options, and ultimately advocate for their immigrant community. Students leave ISH with the support networks, community resources and confidence to apply to college, jobs, and more.
WHY: Approximately 2,000 Undocumented youth graduate from Arizona high schools every year, with most lacking the institutional support, guidance, and supportive network they deserve. This is why our work as an educational equity organization is more critical than ever. We are re-envisioning post-secondary educational pathways that honor the knowledge, resilience, and power of immigrant youth.
What will participants gain?
- Higher education and career options for in and beyond Arizona
- Strategies to pay for college
- Skills to apply for scholarships (regardless of immigration status)
- Mentorship
- A network of peers and community support before and throughout college
- Strategies for entrepreneurship and starting a business
