Who We Are

ScholarshipsA-Z was born as a response to the continuing failure of public educational systems in AZ to support Undocumented and immigrant youth. Policies such as Prop 300 and HB 2008 keep Undocumented students out of higher education in Arizona.

However, there are policies that are moving in the right direction such as Prop 308 which was implemented as of Spring 2023. Prop 308 grants in-state tuition for students who have attended an Arizona high school for 2  years and graduated from an Arizona high school and/or completed a GED in Arizona. Prop 308 also allows students regardless of immigration status to receive state aid and scholarships. For more visit: scholarshipsaz.org/prop-308/

Our Values

We believe without hesitation that all deportation are inhumane; migration is a human right; Black lives matter; gender and sexual identity exist outside of a binary, one’s own liberation is bound to another’s freedom, regardless of immigration status, ability, gender identity, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, or criminal convictions record.

OUR STORY

What started as a scholarship list, turned into an organization.
In May 2009, a student and advisor at Pima Community College (PCC) in Tucson, AZ, established a resource list to provide college scholarships to all students, regardless of immigration status.  After discussions with other undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Arizona and PCC, ScholarshipsA-Z was created. Since launching its website (www.scholarshipsaz.org) on September 29, 2009, ScholarshipsA-Z has provided resources to undocumented students nationally. Locally, ScholarshipsA-Z has organized has been intentional to connect with, support and nurture the leadership of immigrant youth as we build community to advocate for change.

MISSION

Support students and youth, regardless of immigration status
ScholarshipsA-Z provides resources and scholarships to students, families, and educators through online and community interactions, in order to make higher education accessible to all regardless of immigration status.

VISION
We believe everyone deserves the right to attain a higher education, regardless of immigration status

We envision a society where students receive mentorship, educational, and financial resources needed to successfully pursue a degree that aligns with their abilities and career aspirations. We organize outreach activities and provide scholarships, resources, and advising that empowers community leaders and families to reform laws that block access to educational opportunities.
