“Don’t limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do. You can go as far as your mind lets you. What you believe, remember, you can achieve.” –

Ramon Hernandez

He/Him/El

Educator’s Committee Community Advocate

Ramon Hernandez is an Undocumented Immigrant pursuing a major in Architecture at The University of Arizona. He was born in Sonora, México and he came to the United States with his family when he was 10 years old to seek a better future. Ramon had no idea how to pay for college as an Undocumented student so he decided to apply to the Immigrant Scholarship Hustle program in his senior year of High School and became part of the Tucson 2021 ISH Cohort 5.

From day one of joining ISH Ramon felt that this was the first time that he belonged somewhere, where he felt accepted and that he had a voice. From all the support that Ramon received from the SA-Z team, he decided to give back to his community and got involved in any way possible.

Now he serves as a community advocate in ISH to help and support participants to succeed in their dreams.

Ramon continues to be a part of SA-Z because of the friendly and supportive community that Scholarships A-Z is. He wants to be that support for others who may need it and continue encouraging and helping Undocumented students to go to college.
