Communications Support

Diana Cadena heard about ScholarshipsA-Z her senior year of high school after team members went to her school to talk about higher education. She had no idea how to pay for college as an Undocumented student so they guided her towards the Immigrant Scholarship Hustle program. She immediately applied and attended in 2018. This was the first place outside of home where she felt accepted and that she had a voice. Because of the tremendous help she received from the SA-Z team, she decided to give back to her community and get involved in any way possible.

Since 2018, Diana has volunteered at SA-Z by co-facilitating the 5th annual educators conference, speaking to Undocumented high school students about possibilities after graduation, and facilitating workshops at ISH. She has also contributed her time through editing testimonial and campaign videos for ISH, Fall 2020.

SA-Z has provided her with support and motivation to go to college. After she attended ISH and graduated high school, she went to Pima Community College and received her associates degree in one year. She then transferred to the University of Arizona where she is currently studying Film and Television and preparing to graduate May 2021.

Diana continues to be a part of SA-Z because of the friendly community that has supported her and her dreams. She wants to be that support for others who may need it and continue encouraging and helping Undocumented students to go to college.
