“I don’t think anybody anywhere can talk about the future of their people or of an organization without talking about education. Whoever controls the education of our children controls our future” – Wilma Mankiller

I was born in Mexico City and migrated to Los Angeles with my family when I was 11 years old. I attended community college after high school, Santa Monica College. After 4 years of navigating community college with the guidance and support of the Center for Community College Partnerships, I was able to transfer to my dream school, UCLA.
At my alma mater I was involved with the support group for Undocumented students, IDEAS at UCLA. Through my work with IDEAS, I was not only empowered, but I also enacted my agency and used my voice to advocate for resources for undocumented students. I could not have made it without the love and support of my family, my community, CCCP, 580 cafe and IDEAS.
I am currently working at the Thrive Center at the University of Arizona, where we serve first-gen, low-income, historically underrepresented students. I am also a wife, a mother of two wonderful boys and a mother of many plants (I lost count of how many I have lol). I also love painting, though I may not have time to do a lot of that at the moment. I am still in the process of adapting to the desert and make Tucson my new home.
